About the event
Snapshot Series: This body of work is both emotional and literal - created referencing a photo from my travels and life. My memory of that moment fueled its abstraction and surreal undertones. In each painting lives a message from me written in symbols, only I can decode. The system of personal hieroglyphs allows me a public confessional but with secrecy.
On a more direct and conceptual level, these paintings illustrate the absurdity of our world. We walk amongst the plethora of insanity daily-both beautiful and hideous.
Razor lines along glowing screens
Cement angles biting concrete seams
Fleeing into our cosmic dreams
We are trapped inside an obscene scream
Two sides of the life and death theme
Escaping in sleep the universe intervenes
Waking with the sun beams
Chasing faux silver gleams
Paper dolls by the ream
-Poem by M. Damon
